Last week was a busier than normal week at work. Usually the office where I am based is pretty quiet but as we have a lot on right now it was super busy with loads of the guys coming in to work from the office as opposed to them being out on site. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy it when they are all about and it does make the day go faster but boy they are noisy and messy. Its honestly like working with a load of teenage boys at times!! Added to that it wasn't a very good week for sleeping, I had a dreadful week with lots of broken nights and a whole lot less sleep than I actually need to fully function. Like most of the country we had a massive thunder storm on Tuesday night which didn't actually bother me but our little fur baby Daisy doesn't cope well at all with storms. As soon as it started she was a shaking and crying mess. No amount of stroking or cuddling would calm her, she just wouldn't settle or sleep at all which meant I didn't sleep either. Thursday I was up again half the night as Miss Daisy had an upset tum and needed tending to on several occasions. I was so pleased when Friday finally dawned especially as Tom was working nights which would mean I would have the bed to myself. After work on Friday I went straight to the hairdressers for a cut and colour and then once home I had a soak in the bath, had dinner and curled up on the sofa to watch a film. As I was so tired I headed to bed at a fairly reasonable time so happy that I was about to get a full and good nights sleep..........yeah right! I think I woke up about 4 times during the night and then at 5am I was wide awake so there was nothing else for me to do but get up. Tom was home just after 7am and he went straight to bed so I took myself up to Oxford Street for a pay day shop at Primark. I usually hate the Marble Arch Primark with a passion but I have found if you go bright and early its an absolute breeze to shop there. I arrived there a little after 8am and I practically had the store to myself - bliss. I got a myself some new canvas pumps, pj's a skirt a couple of t-shirts and a new make up & wash bag. I did spot a jacket I quite liked but I forgot to go back and try it on so I may have to make a return visit soon.
Next stop was the Benefit counter in Debenhams where I had an appointment to get my brows done. The lovely Kim worked her magic and gave me a brow tint and wax, its been a long time since they were tamed and I am now pleased to say that they look very presentable indeed. Just need to make sure I keep them maintained. My final stop of the day was the Pixi Beauty store in Carnaby Street where I treated myself to some new skincare products. I have been wanting to try the double cleanse and the glow tonic for ages after reading such rave reviews about it on the beauty blogs and vlogs I follow. I will keep you posted on how its working out but if you are interested in finding out a bit more about Pixi just click on the product name above and it will link you through to their website.
I returned home to find a parcel waiting for me.....my first My Little Box had arrived and oh boy it was such a pretty box. I used to subscribe to Glossybox but I cancelled it as I just wasn't happy with what I was receiving and towards the end I seemed to be getting products I had already had. However as I am somewhat of a beauty junkie I was starting to miss my little monthly fix coming through the post so I set about looking for something to replace it. After a couple of discussions on Twitter I opted for the MLB, I really liked the look of it as its a beauty and lifestyle box. The contents of this box this month were as follows, you can see them all in the picture too. I cant wait to start using the products and I am pretty excited already for the next box.
- An inflatable beach pillow/beach pouch (perfect for storing wet swimsuits)
- A set of postcards and envelopes
- A sea salt scrub from My Little Beauty
- A Garnier Skin Active 3 in 1 Face Wash, Scrub and Mask
- A Institut Karite Rose Handcream
- Two nightlights to brighten up your summer evenings
- A seashell sweet
- A small canvas pouch
Tom worked again Saturday night and I finally managed a better nights sleep although I was still awake and up at 6.30am. Tom headed to bed and I headed straight for my craft room where I managed 3 more layouts for the 2017 holiday album. All the papers I am using for the Disney pages are Echo Park and Simple Stories - they are such fab papers and make scrapping an absolute dream as I also got all the matching embellishments.
I also started a new C2C (Corner to Corner) crochet blanket which, once its finished is going to be a birthday present for a friend. The yarn is James C Brett Marble Chunky and its coming together really quickly, think I am going to have this made in record time. I will share a pic when I have completed a little more of it so you can see the variation of colour.
Well that's about it for this week. If you like my blog please do leave me a comment to let me know and if you have a blog too leave me a link and I will pop over to say hello.
Love and hugs, Jane
