I thought I would use this post to share with you some of my favourite Christmas things. Its no secret that I am a huge fan of the Festive season, I love everything about it and I actually start to get excited for it in about September or October. I do my best to hold out on as much as I can but as soon as December hits you can bet your last bauble that our tree will be up and the Christmas tunes will be playing.
So here we go with some of my Festive top fives, all of which are in no particular order!
Music
1. Step into Christmas - Elton John
2. Its Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas - Michael Buble
3. Its the Most Wonderful Time of the Year - Andy Williams
4. Rockin Around the Christmas Tree - Brenda Lee
5. I Wish it Could be Christmas Everyday - Wizard
I could probably make this list 10x longer but I picked the first 5 Christmas songs that came into my mind. Of course no Christmas music list is complete without a bit of Michael Buble - its probably the only time of year its acceptable to have his songs play on a loop!
Films
1. Home Alone
2. Miracle on 34th Street
3. Die Hard
4. The King and I
5. Gremlins
Now I know that technically the King and I isn't a Christmas film but its always on at some point over the festive period which is why its in my list. Its one of my all time favourite films and I know it scene by scene and word for word. And yes I still cry at the end despite having seen it more times than I care to remember. For me its a film that I will either watch in the run up to Christmas or on one of those random days at home before New Year.
Foods
1. After Eights
2. Homemade Sausage Rolls
3. Ghiradelli Peppermint Bark
4. Pigs in Blankets
5. Cheeseboards
Ahhhh food, and in particular Christmas food - what's not to love? Most of the foods on my list you can get and eat year round now but there is just something special about the things you only tend to eat at Christmas. Last year I made sausage rolls for the first time and they were absolutely delicious. I shared some with my family and they were a huge hit, I have already been asked to make some more for this year. On Boxing Day we usually have Toms family over and for this I will make a big buffet complete with all the meats, pork pies, chutneys & pickles. Of course there will be a cheeseboard too, one of our Christmas traditions is to buy some cheese from Fortum & Mason when we do our walk around London, totally extravagant but so worth it. We usually end up with so much cheese that we will be eating it pretty much every day between Christmas and New Year.
