Last weekend was a pretty busy one for us, shopping for Christmas presents and a new washing machine, a big birthday celebration and an even bigger storm due to hit London and the South East. At least the clocks went back so we got an extra hour in bed which was rather nice.
Saturday was my nephew George's 18th birthday, I can't believe that my little boy is all grown up and is now officially an adult. I have so many wonderful memories that I have shared over the years with him, and I am so glad that my scrapbooking has preserved some of those memories for George to keep and share with his friends(and hopefully his own family one day). We popped into see him Saturday morning and hand over his presents (we got him a watch), he chose to spend the day at home and then go out with his friends in the evening, the family celebration would take place the next day. The picture below is of him and Scarlett (his sister/my adorable niece), I love these two kids more than words can ever say and I am blessed to be their Auntie.
After our visit to the birthday boy we headed down to Ashford and then Bluewater to start our Christmas shopping. We managed to get a few presents and a few new bits for ourselves. I got a pair of Sketchers to wear to and from work and a couple of new Abercrombie & Fitch t-shirts. I also got some new Yankee candles to add to my candle collection, I got Christmas Rose and Cranberry Ice medium housewarmer jars and a whole load of the wax melts (used to be called tarts). I do love a candle, I have them lit all year round but at this time of year they really do add a lovely scented warmth to a home. I am currently burning a Yankee one called Lake Sunset and a RHS one called Fig and Cassis.
On Sunday we went out for 'the' birthday meal, venue of choice by George was Frankie and Bennys. It was a lovely fun filled evening and a great way to end the weekend. George chose his own birthday cake, a Winnie the Pooh one as this was what he had at his first birthday party!!
The drive home on Sunday evening was a very wet one, the rain was lashing down and it was a little windy. The weathermen had predicted that a big storm, like the one in 1987 was due to hit the Southern part of the UK Sunday night but luckily for us it didnt arrive in London till around 6am Monday morning and when it did arrive, it passed pretty quickly with very little damage to our surrounding area.
Thanks for stopping by my little blog. Love and hugs, Jane

Great to catch up with what's going on with you Jane. Glad the storm didn't affect you too much. Loved your photos from Vegas too, bet that seems ages away now! Alli x
Can't believe that George is 18, feel like I have seen him grown up Jane. We will be celebrating here at the weekend. Love the cake, never too old for Winnie the Pooh. Well done on the Christmas shopping. Will make a start after the birthday celebrations are done and dusted.
