Its August Already

Is it really August or have we somehow skipped a few months and ended up in October! Seriously what is happening with our weather, instead of sitting outside with my kindle and a glass of wine I am curled up on the sofa in pj's!! All I can say is roll on September when we head off to Spain for a little bit of sun and sangria.

The last few weeks have been a little busy for me. Firstly my friend Sarah came to visit the last weekend in July. We had a lovely girly couple of days just chatting, catching up and drinking gin. As is usual when Sarah visits there was an obligatory girls weekend shopping trip. This time we avoided the High Street and went to Spitalfields Market which was just fab. Its a real haven of stalls and shops selling handcrafted and unusual items. There were so many wonderful things on offer, we could have both quite happily spent a fortune, as it was we were actually quite restrained but we have said that we will return closer to Christmas. There is also a large selection of street food stalls which looked and smelt amazing. After a Starbucks Frappuccino stop (we had a #bff BOGOF offer) we headed to Borough Market to pick up some bits and pieces for Saturday nights supper which was a tapas style coffee table picnic, very naughty but very nice too!
After a lazy Sunday morning Sarah and I headed to the B-Street Deli in Bermondsey Street for a coffee and a spot of brunch/lunch. This tiny little deli is a little gem of a place and its fast becoming Tom and I's fave local hangout. The food is always fresh and delicious and the service is friendly and welcoming. The only problem (for us) is that its a very popular place with both locals and the tourists who flock to the area for the nearby food markets meaning we cant always get in when we want to.

August arrived bringing with her a lot of rain and my birthday - oh joy I am another year older lol!! I was at work during the day but Tom was off so he came to meet me afterwards so we could go shopping. We went to Pandora where he bought me a gorgeous ring which is going to be my eternity ring (I am more than happy with this as I am not into super expensive jewellery) and will replace my wedding and engagement rings, both of which are far too big for me now. He also got me some flowers, chocolates, a bottle of American gin and a new set of Project Life cards - I really am such a lucky girl. On the way home we stopped in Waitrose and bought a Chinese meal for dinner which was a lovely treat. We both had the next day off work and after several lengthy discussions about what to do and where to go we ended up heading down to Brighton for the day. We were a little worried that the weather wouldn't be on our side but it was a lovely day, a little breezy at times but on the whole the sun shone meaning that we were able to fully enjoy a day at the seaside. We walked along the Laines and the seafront before heading to the pier were we stopped and sat outside a bar with a couple of drinks. Dinner was fish and chips right on the beach followed by a couple more drinks before we headed home. We both agreed that this is something we really need to do more often, especially as Brighton is just an hour away from us on the train from London Bridge.

Saturday saw us at Mums for birthday dinner, we had a nice time and ended up bringing Scarlett home with us for an impromptu sleepover. Tom was at work on Sunday so it meant that we had the day to ourselves. I managed a couple more layouts (I will do a separate post later to show off some of the pages I have done so far) for the holiday album before S and I curled up on the sofa to watch Disney movies. What a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon, especially as I could feel the beginnings of a cold - fingers crossed it doesn't develop into a full blown head cold.

Thanks for stopping by - feel free to leave me a comment and/or a link back to your own blog if you have one.

Love and hugs, Jane xx
